Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Our Biblical foundation and core vision

“Jesus said, ‘I come to give life – life in all its fullness.’” — John 10:10

At Radley, we believe that every child - regardless of their starting point, learning needs, or disabilities - is created uniquely by God and entitled to experience life in all its fullness. Our SEND provision is rooted in the conviction that having additional needs should never be a barrier to a rich, meaningful, and flourishing education. We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every pupil is known, supported, and empowered to thrive and reach their full potential.

Our SEND commitments

  • Academic growth and adapted learning: We provide high-quality, adaptive teaching and targeted support so that pupils with SEND are both challenged and inspired. By identifying barriers early and scaffolding learning and support in core subjects and across the curriculum, we ensure every child develops confidence, critical thinking, and independence at their own pace.
  • Holistic wellbeing: Recognising that education extends beyond academic attainment, we nurture the whole child; focusing on physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. We ensure pupils with SEND have equal access to co-curricular and enrichment activities, enabling them to discover their unique passions and talents.
  • Inclusive culture & diversity: We celebrate the uniqueness and difference of our pupils, fostering a culture where every child feels valued, respected, and fully included in all aspects of school life.
  • Strong partnerships: We work hand-in-hand with parents, carers, specialists, and the wider community to build a wrap-around support network, ensuring clear communication and shared goals for every child’s journey.

Living our values (the Radley R's in SEND)

  • Respect: Valuing each child's individual learning needs and preferences, listening to their voice, and appreciating their unique contribution to our wider school family.
  • Resilience: Supporting pupils to understand and accept themselves, embrace challenges with confidence, view mistakes as learning opportunities, and persevere in a safe, supportive environment.
  • Relationships: Building compassion through kindness and empathy, forming trusting relationships between staff, pupils, and their peers so that every child feels safe, understood, and supported.
  • Responsibility: Equipping staff to adapt learning effectively, while encouraging pupils to do their best and take pride in their progress and celebrate personal achievements.

Our aim for every child with SEND

By embedding this vision into daily practice, we aim to ensure that every child with SEND leaves Radley Primary School as a more confident, resilient, and valued individual, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and self-belief to know they can make a positive impact on the world.

Radley CE Primary School provides for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs including those with:
